DOHA (Qatar): A total of 26 countries have registered for this year’s 13th FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup, the LOC said on Wednesday.
But this year’s competition will be held at the Aspire Dome from June 23-26 without fans due to the strict Covid19 protocols in place.
The competition was scheduled from March 10-13, and everybody was looking forward to the event after a gap of a year as it wasn’t held last year due to the pandemic.
For the first time in its history since 2008, the high-profile event will be held behind close doors.
“Implementing a comprehensive medical and security protocol providing the safeguards required to protect the health and safety of everyone involved in the competition is one of our prime aims,” said Mr Al Ahmed Al Hitmi, LOC chairman and Qatar Gymnastics Federation president.
