The city’s journey in artistic gymnastics began in 2008 with the inaugural FIG Artistic World Cup, marking the start of a legacy that has solidified Doha’s reputation as a global gymnastics powerhouse.
The first FIG Artistic World Cup in Doha, held from March 4-6, 2008, set the stage for an annual tradition of excellence, attracting top gymnasts worldwide.
Over the years, the event evolved, transitioning from a World Cup to a Challenge Cup format, and later rebranded as the FIG Apparatus World Cup.
Notable editions include the 2009 and 2010 World Cups, which showcased emerging talents and Olympic qualifiers, and the 2011-2016 Challenge Cups, emphasizing individual apparatus finals with substantial prize money.
