10 June, 2021

Doha (QAT): The stage is all set to host the 13th FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup after the Local Organising Committee received the green signal from the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) recently.

A meeting of the LOC was also held at the Qatar Gymnastics Federation headquarter here in the Qatari capital to discuss on the pre-tournament arrangements and also during the competition.

“We are thankful to the Qatar Olympic Committee and MOPH for approving the competition,” said LOC chairman and QGF president Mr Ali Ahmed Al Hitmi.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the host country will provide the required safeguards to protect the health and safety of all involved in the competition, that will be held at the Aspire Dome from June 23-26.

The World Cup was scheduled to be held at the Aspire Dome from March 10-13, and everybody was looking forward to the event after a gap of year as the competition couldn’t be held last year due to Covid-19 pandemic.

For the first time in its history, the tournament will be held behind close doors.

“Implementing a comprehensive medical and security protocol providing the safeguards required to protect the health and safety of everyone involved in the competition is one of our prime aims,” Mr Al Hitmi.
