Uzbekistan’s veteran gymnast Oksana Chusovitina showed age is only about numbers after she claimed the women’s vault gold with 14.166 points at the FIG Artistic Individual Apparatus World Cup in Doha on Friday.
The 41-year-old was at her level best and overcame stiff challenges from Australia’s Emily Little, who won the silver with 14.099 points.
Interestingly, Little, who participated in the 2012 London Games, had also won a silver at the Melbourne-leg last month.
Slovenia’s Teja Belak came third with 14.083 points.
Hungary’s Zsofia Kovacs (13.933) finished fourth followed by Slovenia’s Kysselef Tjasa (13.516), Azerbaijan’s Yuliya Inshina (13.133), Morocco’s Chaimaa Zemzami (12.749).
Meanwhile, Turkey’s Doga Ozgocmez, who got a wild card to the finals due to China’s Yan Wang absence, could not do much and finished last with 12.383 points.
