Romania Dominate in the final day in Doha’s FIG World Challenge Cup

Doha (QAT) March 30, 2013: The Romanians shined on the podium tonight in the final day of the sixth FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup in Doha as they bagged four gold medals.
17-year old, Diane Bullimar got the crowds on their feet as she displayed a stellar floor routine that got her the gold medal. Her compatriot, Larisa Andreea settled for the bronze while China’s Siqi Zeng took silver.
“We continue to do our best and the best is the winner,” said Bullimar about Romania’s victorious run in the event.
Andrea who helped her team win the bronze medal in the London 2012 Olympics, proved why she is a world-class gymnast in the beam finals where she scored a whopping 15.500 to win the top spot.
China’s Siqi Zeng also bagged another silver, while Britain’s future star Gabrielle Jupp added another bronze medal after claiming it for the uneven bars yesterday. “I feel great. I really didn’t expect to win two medals. It is amazing,” said the 15-year old.
In the parallel bars, Andrei Vasile Muntean, another Romanian captured the gold medal, while Korea’s Jin Hyok Kim took the silver and China’s Qiuhua Liao took the bronze.
For the vault, Korea’s Se Gwang Ri claimed the gold medal, Vietnam’s Thanh Phuong Le took the silver medal and Armenia’s Arthur Davytan took the bronze.
And for the horizontal bar finals, Croatia’s Marijo Moznik won the gold medal, Netherland’s Jeffery Wammes took the silver while Switzerland’s Oliver Hegi got the bronze. “It is great to compete here. There are the best gymnasts in the world and it is an honor to compete here,” said Hegi.
An exciting atmosphere marked the final day of the event as more fans came to enjoy the gymnastics.
