DOHA: The 17th edition of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup (Taishan) got underway on Wednesday at the iconic Aspire Dome, with the event running through April 19.
The prestigious competition, hosted annually by Qatar, continues to attract top-tier gymnasts from around the world.
This year’s tournament is once again organized under the leadership of Qatar Gymnastics Federation President Ali Al Hitmi, who chairs the Organizing Committee.
“We are proud to host this major event for the 17th consecutive time,” said Al Hitmi. “All committees have worked tirelessly to ensure this edition meets the highest international standards.”
He noted that preparations began well in advance, with dedicated teams formed to manage every aspect of the event.
“We meticulously planned each detail to guarantee smooth operations and to leave no room for error.”
Al Hitmi emphasized that the championship is part of a broader mission to grow the sport within the region.
“Promoting the culture of gymnastics has been a core mission of the Federation since its establishment in 2001. Through this event and others hosted in Qatar, we aim to elevate the profile of gymnastics and inspire the next generation.”
