Doha (QAT) March 25, 2015: Today will start the Qualifications for the Apparatus Finals scheduled for Thursday and Friday. The 8th World Challenge Cup in Doha has attracted 120 gymnasts from 33 different countries this year. It will be held at Aspire Academy of Sports Excellence from March 25 – 27, 2015.

The podium training held yesterday with new format liked by all the participants.
The line-up is headlined by Brazilian star gymnasts Arthur Zanetti, 2012 Olympic and 2013 World champion on Still Rings, and Diego Hypolito, 2005 and 2007 World champion on Floor Exercise, as well as the United States’ Danell Leyva, 2012 Olympic All-around Bronze medallist and 2011 World champion on Parallel Bars, and Jacob Dalton, 2013 World Floor Exercise Silver medallist. With Turkey’s Umit Samiloglu (Gold on Horizontal Bar) and Ibrahim Colak (Bronze on Still Rings) as well as Jossimar Calvo Moreno (Silver on Parallel Bars) of Colombia, the Men’s field also includes medallists from last week’s World Challenge Cup in Cottbus. Colombian gymnasts participate for the first time at the Doha World Challenge Cup.
Romanians Diana Bulimar, who helped her team win Bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games, and 2014 Youth Olympic Games finalist Laura Jurca stand out in the Women’s competition. With European champion Giulia Steingruber (SUI), 2012 Asian champion Thi Ha Thanh Phan (VIE), and Slovenians Tjasa Kysselef and Teja Belak, who took Silver and Bronze respectively in Cottbus, women’s Vault will be an interesting event to watch in Doha.
Ahmed Aldayani, Mahmood Alsadi, and Farah Mahmoud will compete for the host country.
About the 2015 FIG Individual Apparatus Artistic Gymnastics World Cup and World Challenge Cup Series
The 2015 World Cup and World Challenge Cup season for individual-apparatus tournaments features a total of seven Category B – World Challenge Cup competitions. Events of this series take place in Cottbus (GER) on March 19 – 22, Doha (QAT) on March 25 – 27, Ljubljana (SLO) on April 3 – 5, S?o Paolo (BRA) on May 1 – 3, Varna (BUL) on May 7 – 9, Anadia (POR) on May 21 – 24, and Osijek (CRO) on September 17 – 20.
With separate World Ranking lists being established for this series (six for men and four for women), the overall winners will be crowned in Osijek.
The Individual Apparatus World Cup and World Challenge Cup series is an open category, with participation limited to two gymnasts per country and apparatus, and invitations addressed at least to the apparatus finalists of the 2014 World Championships and the best eight gymnasts per apparatus from the 2014 World Cup Ranking list for Individual Apparatus. The best eight gymnasts per apparatus from the qualifications qualify for the finals.
The winners of this series will be the gymnasts with the highest number of points for each apparatus and the best four results counting after the last event in Osijek.
