Olympic, world champions ready for 13th FIG Individual Apparatus World Cup

Doha (QAT): An array of stars including Olympic and world champions will be on show at the for men and women at the gigantic Aspire Dome from March 10-13.

The qualifications will be held on the first two days while the finals will take place on the weekends.  

The competition, held after a year’s absence due to Covid19 pandemic, will also serve as yet another proof of Qatar’s remarkable ability to organise top international events.

But this time a strict health protocols will be in place due to the pandemic that has hit the sports around the world.   

Considered as a blue riband event of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF), the four-day competition, will feature more than 200 gymnasts from 54 countries.

QGF President and Al Ahmed Al Hitmi, who is also a FIG Executive Committee Member, thanked the international federation for reposing their faith in Doha, which first hosted the event in 2008.

“It’s a great feeling to host the 13th editions this year. I also take this opportunity to thank the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Qatar Olympic Committee President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani for their support to promote the sport. Without their support, it wouldn’t have been possible to organise such a huge event,” added Al Hitmi.
