We’ve gained great hosting experience through the years: Ali Al Hitmi

DOHA: Participating teams have started to arrive in the Qatari capital to take part in the 16th Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Championships.

The competition starts from April 17 to 20 at the Women’s Sports Committee Hall at Aspire Zone. This year’s event assumes importance for most top gymnasts as it is one of the qualifying events for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Kazakhstan, Cuba, China, Taipei and Australia were the first to arrive while other teams are expected to arrive today.

Qatar Gymnastics Federation president Ali Al Hitmi, who is also the Chairman of the tournament’s organizing committee, praised the efforts of the various committees entrusted with the responsibilities to deliver a successful event.

He stressed the need for commitment and discipline to overcome any obstacles during the tournament’s activities.

“We’ve gained great experience through organizing the tournament for many years, so every individual in the committees working in the tournament knows exactly what his role is,” said Al Hitmi, who is also the 1st Vice President at the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).

Al Hitmi also praised the tournament’s equipment committee for their efforts in installing the apparatus and temporary floor at the indoor hall.
