DOHA: Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) President and Chairman of the Championship Organizing Committee Ali Al Hitmi exuded confidence in hosting another successful edition of Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Championships (Taishan).
The 16th edition of this championships begins at Aspire Women’s Sports Committee Indoor Hall today.
As many as 95 male (MAG) and 55 female (WAG) gymnasts representing 55 countries are taking part in the event.
The Doha stopover is the final qualifying round for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“We are happy to host the major tournament for the 16th time in a row,” said Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) President and Chairman of the Organizing Committee Ali Al Hitmi.
The tournament organizing committee has allocated prizes amounting to $50,000.
“Gymnastics is the basis for all other sports. Through this championships, which Qatar has been hosting since 2008, we’ve been able to spread the culture of gymnastics. This is the goal that QGF has been working towards since its establishment in 2001,” added Al Hitmi, who is also the First Vice President at FIG.
“We have great confidence in the ability of our entire team to deliver a successful event.”
